MEIG MASTER OF ADVANCED STUDIES EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL GOVERNANCE MEIG Partnerships

the MEIG Programme exceeded my expectations

Ms. Olive L. Kinga, MEIG Graduate 2020-2021

Prior to enrolling in the MEI GProgramme, I asked myself what added value would the programme contribute to my learning experience, as well as my professional development as an aspiring diplomat. As I graduate as the class delegate of the 2020-2021 cohort, I can attest that I was privileged to learn from industry experts and senior representatives from international organizations who imparted in us a great deal of knowledge and in-depth understanding of the political, economic, social, and legal aspects of European and international governance.
All 10 modules were uniquely curated to focus on key topics that are vital for being successful in the field of international governance. For example, module III, which was my favorite, focused on key skills for a national or international career dealing with global issues. We were privileged to learn negotiation skills from the founder of the Center for European Negotiation and Decision-Making (CENAD); Mr. Robert Weibel as well as adaptive leadership skills from the Director of the United Nations Library and Archives Geneva Office; Mr. Francesco Pisano, and many many more.
Conclusively, The MEIG Programme offers each student an opportunity to incorporate what they have learned through an end of study thesis or project. Currently, I am interning at the UN Library & Archives Office in Geneva in which I welcome Ambassadors as they sign the [UN Charter poster] to reaffirm their continuous support of +100 Years of Multilateralism and the values of the UN Charter. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the MEIG Programme exceeded my expectations and the staff, faculty, and director, endeavoured to ensure that we had a fulfilled outcome from the programme. To this end, I highly recommend any individual who wishes to expand their knowledge of international systems and global governance to apply to the MEIG Programme, because it is worth the investment.
