No other program could offer so many visionaries in one place, in one year…

Ms. Nana Kurashvili, MEIG Graduate 2019-2020

MEIG programme has been a life-changing and truly priceless experience for me. It was an amazing journey, accompanied by the most outstanding academic staff and practitioners. Their invaluable academic advice and useful insights on different aspects of European and International governance were enlightening in many regards. No other program could offer so many visionaries in one place, in one year…

Emerging issues of today is something that affects each and every of us individually. That’s why we, as a group, took them personally and were discussing UN challenges, human rights, international trade, climate change and sustainable development far beyond the lectures. At the same time, it was the most joyful learning experience thanks to my comrades-in-arms, participants of MEIG program. Their convictions, determination and non-juvenile wisdom showcase that the future of multilateralism is in the good hands.

We started MEIG program by reflecting on the governance issues. During the conference dedicated to 100 years of multilateralism, as panelist, I raised the question: In this system of global governance, where is the place for “we, the peoples?”. Throughout the program, I was asking the same question to UN senior officials, US Ambassador to WTO, to NGOs and practitioners… The answer was as challenging as the question itself. In the end, despite of all the consequences of pandemic, I was lucky enough to land up by internship in the Inter-Parliamentary Union with the firm belief – in this system of multilateralist, with all its dysfunctionalities, there are still islands of hope, where voices of people are heard and acted upon!
